Here’s an incredible promotion that you won’t want to pass up if you’re a Mac poker player. PokerStars offers Mac users a fully-downloadable version of its software. That means that you don’t have to open web-based software in Flash or Java, or worse, have to hunt down a program like Boot Camp. First and foremost, double guarantees all week means that the poker site’s centerpiece, the Sunday Million, will become the Sunday Two Million. Don’t think that the buy-in will double, either. In fact, the price tag remains $200+15, but $2 million will be on the line this Sunday. That size of a prize pool is normally only reserved for tournament series like the World Championship of Online Poker or Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series. As I write this late Monday night, there are already 252 people signed up, which means that the tournament is sure to see a massive throng of humanity turn out. Last week, over 7,000 people played, creating a $1.4 million prize pool.
Other daily tournaments which will see double guarantees all week include the $15,000 Guaranteed, which is now a $30,000 Guaranteed tournament. On Monday night, the tournament drew a colossal 4,923 people at $10 per head, meaning the $30K Guaranteed whizzed by its guarantee. I’d expect similarly-sized tournaments all week long, making the next few days a prime opportunity to take advantage of this low buy-in tournament.
Monday night’s $50,000 Guarantee became a $100,000 Guarantee, attracting 2,502 players. The buy-in was $50+5, meaning the actual prize pool was more than $125,000. First place paid a healthy $19,390.50 and the top three spots paid over $10,000, a tremendous value for a $50+5 buy-in tournament. Like the $15K Guarantee, the $50K Guaranteed is a daily tournament.
The PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up is usually a $500,000 Guaranteed tournament. This weekend, expect a crowd because the tournament will boast a $1 million prize pool. There are only 50 people entered as I gaze into the PokerStars lobby, but I’d expect that number to grow substantially as Sunday draws nearer. The tournament kicks off at 12:45pm ET and comes with a price tag of $200+15. It’s a great way to “warm up” for the Sunday Million, which kicks off just a few hours later.
Finally, make sure to check out the Sunday Hundred Grand, which will become the Sunday Two-Hundred Grand this week. It’s a $10+1 buy-in tournament that already has 1,689 people entered. Scarily enough, this tournament is still well short of its guarantee. You start with 3,000 chips and the blind levels are a short 10 minutes long. The tournament starts at 3:30pm ET.
